"Test stamps"?

Can anyone tell me about these stamps? They were offered as "Test stamps". I didn't found anything about them.

These might be trial-color plate proofs. These are printed from finished plates, usually on different paper stock than the issued stamps. The colors of the issued 10c stamps in this design are rosine, dark slate, and olive brown.
